Brian Short - Anything for a Laugh (1971 folk psych)
The mood here is pitted somewhere between the seemingly lighthearted title and the solemn, somber album art. It all starts off quite reminiscent of The Band, and stays that way throughout, vocally. Check for "Emily," sampled on the Cunninlynguists' Dirty Acres track titled "Dance For Me." Short's got a way of making songs that are at once chilled and somewhat gloomy, yet quite epic. Sometimes the sound is loungy, sometimes it's baroque-folky, and a very cool sax leads the way out on "Blue Tuesday". Meanwhile it's just straight up guitar 'n' piano classic rock on "Don't You Need Me Anymore". And it all just somehow reminds of Joe Cocker's version of "A Little Help From My Friends". It's a great obscure little album, in fact I don't even remember how or why I got it... From RYM (jaybird)

Morganmasondowns - Morganmasondowns (1970 folk)
Really gentle balladeerish folk that doesn't have any particular draw for me. It's rather straight ahead and weepy, but a few good songs here and there. From RYM (valis666)

Fat City - Reincarnation (1969 us psych folk)
Fat City's first album on ABC's Probe imprint is a good slice of psychedelic folk-rock. This is before they met and befriended John Denver. Reminds me of bands like Pidgeon and Jefferson Airplane.

Silmaril - The Voyage of Icarus (1974 folk psych xstian)
This wasn 't originally released in 1974! If you actually owned the CD then you'd know that this compilation consists of tracks from their 1973 release 'Given Time or the Several Roads' and from the unreleased 1974 album 'No Mirrored Temple'. To quote:
"The Voyage of Icarus captures the dark, mysterious, and achingly beautiful acid folk & Christian themed psychedelic sounds that emanated from 1973's highly collectable privately pressed album, Given Time... Or the Several Roads, and their dormant, unreleased follow up No Mirrored Temple."

Whistler - Ho-Hum (1971 psych-prog, Folk UK)

Damin Eih, A.L.K. and Brother Clark - Never Mind(1973 psych folk u.s.a.)
1:Dreamy and hypnotic, an excellent mixture of folk and psych sounds,, every song is winner.
2:Wonderful songs from a great and lost album.
3:How can you be content in a world where Nirvana's Nevermind is held to be one of the greatest albums of all time, when in reality it is not even the best album titled Never Mind?

A somewhat deranged private pressing record about a man who falls in the depths of drug abuse, and finds his way to the light through Jesus and god.
Beautiful guitar playing, and some trippie lyrics, that is truely one for the ages.

Rex Holman - Here in the Land of Victory
(1970 v.good dreaming folk)

Rick Saucedo Heaven Was Blue (1978 dreaming psych)

Big, and sadly still pretty unknown, is this awesome album by Rick Saucedo, his debut album that was originally released in 1978 on the Reality label in the USA. Most of the tracks here are absolutely exceptional, including the number that gives the title to the album and takes the full B-side of the original vinyl. Loner psychedelic, melodic, dreamy most of the time, but also featuring the ferocious fuzz-rocker
'Ka Mon We're Gonna Rock All Night Long.' If you like Michael Angelo, Joe Peace or Bob Trimble, don't let this one pass by!

The first question I heard this album was 'Is this Jethro Tull?'. Tabula Rasa sounds a bit like Jethro Tull because of it's instruments but it has sort of finnish stamp on it. Gryf is my favorite song on this album.

Tabula Rasa - Ekkedien tanssi(1976)
This album is a fine prog effort, and second this is a beautiful soft rock with good keys and guitars. The first track (i will not mention the titles, because are hard to write), the album's name is a great opener with smooth guitar and keys. To me this album really sound symphonic, and is not bad, maybe a little to mellow. Sometimes sounds like Kaipa, but more vague in contrast with what was made by prog bands in mid '70. 3 stars, still enjoyble to me, if for you, listen and convince yourself that is not so bad album after all. Similar band is Nova (also from Finland).

Excellent music for the road, this rare and hard to find album is a perfect example of folk and rock made by a bunch of hippies in the seventies.
The words are of love and tolerance, and free life and travelling, while the music suites the words well and transcends all of their messages flawlessly.
Acoustic guitar and haunting fiddle, tablas and vocal harmonies of great and natural honesty of happiness from both the male and the female parts, it is one of the best albums I have heard in quite a while and it holds a strong place in my music collection.
A must have classic!
